New Models for Teaching Science

What method encourages student attendance? What method results in higher test scores? What method is most satisfying to students? I summarize the results of a study describing various “blends” of teaching. Before class, students were assigned either textbook readings or videos. During class, the students listened to typical lectures or were involved in problem-solving exercises throughout the lecture.
